On this spot in 1927, the Spirit of St. Louis touched down in Pierre, and Charles Lindbergh took the city by storm. He visited local dignitaries and enjoyed a night at the St. Charles Hotel before for leaving for Wyoming the next day. The landing location later became the Pierre Airport.
To learn about Lindy's visit to Pierre, check out the local Historical Marker and then find this dastardly cache.
There's plenty of parking on site. Do NOT go near the fence--the cache is nowhere near it, and unless you like barbed wire, there's no need to go there.
