Geocache Description:

PL

Kesz należy do serii kilku skrytek, związanych z książkami o Harrym Potterze.

Jeżeli był_a to:

  • Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth
  • A lot of people are idiots at the age of fifteen
  • To the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure
  • It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live
  • Fear of the name increases the fear of the thing itself
  • There is nothing to be feared from a body, Harry, any more than there is anything to be feared from the darkness. Lord Voldemort, who of course secretly fears both, disagrees
  • In fact, being — forgive me — rather cleverer than most men, my mistakes tend to be correspondingly huger
  • It's a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who never have sought it
  • Humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things which are worst for them
  • If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals
  • The world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters
  • Have you any idea how much tyrants fear the people they oppress? All of them realise that, one day, amongst their many victims, there is sure to be one who rises against them and strikes back!
  • Well, to a wizard such as myself, there can be nothing more important than passing on ancient skills, helping hone young minds
  • It's one of the irritating things about old teachers, I am afraid, that they never quite forgen their charges' youthful beginnings
  • It is my belief, however, that the truth is generally preferable to lies
  • The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution
  • The consequences of our actions are always so complicated, so diverse, that predicting the future is a very difficult business, indeed
  • Never trust anythinng that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain
  • Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery
  • Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
  • It's our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities
  • What happened down in the dungeons between you and professor Quirrell is a complete secret, so, naturally, the whole school knows
  • It's best to know what the enemy is saying

Zapewne już masz zebrane wyniki każdego z czterech Domów. Możesz zatem bez większego kłopotu wyliczyć kordy finału:
N 52 12.3×S-2×G E 20 57.S+(H+R)/5-31

Powodzenia!

The cache belongs to a small series of caches, concerning Harry Potter books. As these novels contain a huge number of awesome quotes, I decided to honor them with not one, but two caches. The cache GC9PZ8J is about the quotes, which can say a lot about people from the Harry Potter universe — their personalities, knowledge and actions. Now we will face the quotes, which can be used in every-day life — containing some universal wisdom.

TASK:

Below, you can find a quite large list of quotes, which come from the original British issues of Harry Potter (published by Bloomsbury); some of them may ba altered a tiny bit, to regulate grammar and punctuation. Your task is to determine, who said these words.

If it was:

  • Harry Potter — 20 points for Gryffindor
  • Ron Weasley — 10 points for Gryffindor and 5 for Hufflepuff
  • Hermione Granger — 10 points for Gryffindor and 5 for Ravenclaw
  • Weasley family member — 30 points for Gryffindor
  • Dumbledore's Army member — 20 points for Ravenclaw and 10 for Hufflepuff
  • Albus Dumbledore — 25 points (each) for every House
  • A teacher (possibly a former one), who is a Gryffindor — 15 points for Gryffindor
  • Other teacher (possibly a former one) — 20 points for Slytherin and 10 for Ravenclaw
  • One of the Marauders — 15 points for Gryffindor and 5 for Hufflepuff
  • Someone else — 25 points for Slytherin

If a person matches more than one criterium, consider only the highest one on the list. In other words, if you match someone with one list item, you do not need to bother checking the ones below. So, for example, it the author of the quote is Ron, Griffindor receives 10 points and Hufflepuf 5. It doesn't matter, that Ron is also one of the members of Weasley family.

Quotes:
(yes, I know, there are so many of them, but they are all so awesome, that I just couldn't disregard any of them …)

  • Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth
  • A lot of people are idiots at the age of fifteen
  • To the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure
  • It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live

  • It is my belief, however, that the truth is generally preferable to lies

  • What happened down in the dungeons between you and professor Quirrell is a complete secret, so, naturally, the whole school knows
  • It's best to know what the enemy is saying

Now you probably have the standings for all four houses, so you can compute the final coords without any problems:
N 52 12.3×S-2×G E 20 57.S+(H+R)/5-31

Good luck! In the cache you can also find a bonus information: full name coupled with a three-digit number
