Mount Fuji is 12,389 feet high and the highest point in the country of Japan. It has a very recognizable shape. When the mountain is snow free, it is easy enough to hike up to the top and approximately 300,000 people do so each year. You will need to time your adventure better that my trip. I couldn't get to the top, but I was able to enjoy the volcanic rock and caves at the base of the mount. Mount Fuji is still an active stratovolcano, and the crater rim has eight distinct peaks that ring it. There are several routes to the top and a few caches for you to find once you get there. If you make the journey, be sure to check out the sites.
