On the way up to the Visitors center there's a nice turnout to take a break at. Saw a Nene walking away at the opposite end so I called the place Nene, which is a close Hawaiian cousin to the Canada goose found only on the islands. Plenty of room to let the kids, dog or yourself just stretch before going up up up.
