The toll road up Mill Mountain opened in 1924, paved by the Henritze brothers. The toll house, with its stone archway over the road, was also constructed during this time. By the 1930s, 20,000 cars a year were coming to visit and drive the marvelous scenic road up Mill Mountain. The toll keeper actually lived in the tollbooth.
If you ever read the book The Phantom Tollbooth, you might try stepping under the stone archway to see if it takes you to the Island of Conclusions, where you might find Milo. If not, at least you can find the geocache hidden near here!
