The Shinbaru/Nuyama tumulus cluster was constructed between the 5th and 6th centuries. They are said to be the tombs of the Munakata clan, who were responsible for rituals on Okinoshima Island. There are 5 round mounds, 35 round mounds, and 1 square mound existing on a plateau overlooking the sea, and visitors can take a walk around the mounds. The island was registered in 2017 as part of the World Heritage Site "God's Island" Munakata/Okinoshima and related heritage counties.
It is a peaceful place in early spring when the surrounding rape blossoms are in bloom. It is a bit of a walk, but we encourage you to take a stroll.
