Geocache Description:

A very long time ago, when Clacton-on-Sea looked very much different than it does today, many strange things happened. These have become folklore in the many drinking dens that can be found locally, and have been passed down the generations from father to grandfather and so on.

In the late 15th Centuary, there was a local gang of Pirates who sailed in the ship the 'Black Pig', and this gang of pirates was led by a fearsome drunkard known as Black Patch (Though his real name might have been Nigel).

Black Patch was a violent man, who, as well as the usual rampaging and pillaging that these brutes got up to, liked to drink vast qualtities of rum and have belching competitions. They sailed the seas, hijacking ships, murdering the seamen and stealing valuables and cargo. Eventually the navy were called in to put a stop to the mayhem and into view sailed several navy vessels. They engaged battle with the Black Pig, about a mile out to sea from the spot where you are standing. The Black Pig was overwelmed and smashed to bits by many cannonballs and was sunk, and now lies on the bottom of the sea. Black Patch was killed and his reign of terror was ended.

Nothing was seen of Black Patch again until about twenty years later when his body was washed up onto the rocks before you. So well preserved was he, by vast quantities of the finest Rum, that the tattoos could still be read on his muscular arms, including the one that read 'Mum'.

While you are here, if all is quiet - and especially at night, you might just hear the horrible ghostly echoing sounds of belching competitions of yester year.

At the given co-ordinates you should find a number for the Fish Tail Groyne, (They all have thier own number) on a rectangular metal plaque screwed to the promenade, close to the edge, very near to where this bizarre story took place, showing two letters, which are FT and two numbers, say A & B

The cache can be found a short walk away at N 51 47.(A+7)(B+B)(A+3)  E001 10.(A+8)(B+B)(A-A)
