Geocache Description:

CONGRATS TO Outkast24 FOR THE FTF!

The Middle Township Bike Path is a continuation of the 2.7-mile Cold Spring Bike Path.  These two rail-trails were fully connected in the summer of 2017. Riders can begin their journey at US 9/Sandman Boulevard in Lower Township across the street from the local elementary school and ride it just over 11 miles north to the Cape May County Park & Zoo. As of April, 2022 the path is now completed all the way up to and connects with the Dennis Township Bike trail.

On its southern end, the Middle Township Bike Path begins in Erma, where you’ll notice many idyllic camping areas and wineries to the east and west. Heading north from there, you’ll pass through the Rio Grande community. The homes begin to grow scarce as you enter the woods through Middle Township. You may even run across a bunny or deer as you continue north pass the Cape May County Park & Zoo.

You will wind your way past the dirt trails that are part of the course used by the Middle Township High School cross country team.  Look for white tailed deer and wild turkey.  The Lizard Tail Swamp Preserve will be to your west and the Stone Harbor Golf Club can be seen to the east.  Maybe you will witness a birdie or even an eagle.  If you are here in the spring or summer, you’ll enjoy a beautiful display of wildflowers and butterflies along the trail.

BYOP

Thanks to Haz-Matt24 for initiating this power trail in Lower Township and to bikepathbandit for continuing it into Dennis Township.
