San Vincenzo was one of the 13 villas that formed the Valley of the Knights. The church of the Saints Vincenzo and Anastasio was an ancient parish church of the Parmense bishopric. In 13th century it had jurisdiction over various chapels in the Valley of the Knights.
In 19th century it passed to the diocese of Reggio Emilia and according to tradition the construction of the parish was desired by Matilde di Canossa who had great possessions in these places.
The church is oriented according to the west-east liturgical axis; it was rebuilt after a terrible earthquake in 1920 in neo-Romanesque style and nothing retains the ancient parish except a fragment of the capital and the baptismal font.
The current position is a few meters upstream from the ancient location.
The same bell tower that was located next to the apse before 1920 was rebuilt in neo-Romanesque style.
It was rebuilt after the end of the Second World War thanks also to the donations created by maids from all over Italy.
