猿田神社は西暦807年に建立されました。地元の方からは「さったさん」と呼ばれ親しまれています。
社殿の周りにはスダジイの極相林が広がります。極相林とは「その土地の気候・土壌の条件下で最も安定した構造に到達した森林」のこと。この林にはスダジイの幼樹が多く生えていることから、今後ともスダジイ林として持続してゆく可能性が高いと考えられています。
キャッシュはそんな極相林の中でもとりわけ見事なスダジイの根元に設置しました。キャッシュポイント付近にはスダジイの他、千葉名物ともいえるマテバシイなどの大木も見られます。見事な枝振りを観察しながらキャッシュ探しをお楽しみください。
キャッシュを見つけたあとは必ず元通りに戻してください。
Saruta Shrine was established in 807 AD. It is familiarly called "Satta-san" by the locals.
The shrine is surrounded by a climax forest of “Suda-jii" trees (Castanopsis sieboldii). Climax forests are forests that have reached the most stable structure under the local climatic and soil conditions. Since there are many young Suda-jii trees growing in this forest, it is thought that there is a high possibility that this forest will continue to exist as a Suda-jii forest in the future.
The cache is located at the base of a Suda-jii tree, one of the most spectacular in this forest. Please enjoy looking for the cache while observing the magnificent branches of the large trees.
After finding the cache, be sure to restore it to its original state.
