About This Series of Caches
My daughter and I placed the first geocache in this series shortly after my dad died in February of 2011. Each cache in the series will represent a specific memory I have of my father, one shared with me by people who knew him, or a location which played an important role in his life. My dad was known to most of his friends as Comanche, a handle he used on his CB radio in his younger days. Each of these caches will carry his name.
NOTE: Please replace the cache exactly where you found it so the hint makes sense. This is a nano cache so if you doubt your ability to roll the log up tight enough to fit, please don't remove it. It must be rolled up tight enough to fit in the top of the container or it won't go back together.
Meet My Dad
Have a seat on the bench in the shade and I'll tell you just a bit about my dad and his family. If you sit on the west side and look straight ahead you will face his final resting place, as well as that of his mom and dad. I am a sixth-generation resident of this beautiful little town you are in - thus the reason for my username. This cemetery is the location of at least three generations of my ancestors with two more generations laid to rest in the pioneer cemetery just north of town.
I don't want to go in-depth into his life because that would spoil the details in the other caches in the series, but I'll give you a bit of a background. He may have seemed a little rough around the edges, but those who really knew him also know that he was also caring and compassionate. Dad was probably the hardest worker I knew.
One man he did work for recently referred to him as a "living legend" in the building of the turkey industry in Sanpete and that they are using some of his old equipment (which he stopped making more than 20 years ago) rather than their new equipment. If my dad had a fault as a businessman it was the fact that he over-engineered everything he built so it rarely had to be fixed and never broke down.
Anyway, I'll leave more details for the other caches. If you made it this far, let me know in your log.
