Below info provided to Scottycat from: Jonathan Kalmakoff

As you know, the Doukhobors primarily obtained their irrigation water supply from July Creek, then pipelined it with wood stave along the old GNR rail bed up to Saddle River, the main reservoir, from which it was gravity distributed throughout Fruktova. But they also tapped into whatever springs along the way that they could. This is one of them. I have it all documented on my map.

So small reservoirs like this - often round pipe or wooden square box (the older ones) was used to create to pool water from a natural spring and create enough of a small reservoir to direct the water into a small trunk pipeline to joint it to the main pipeline.

*This cache is placed before the actual Reservoir, but you may walk further if you'd like to check it out, it's a cement box that you can see under the water level, maybe 5 feet depth by 6 and about 20 feet long rectangle.
