Otto anni di geocaching !!
Il 28 Aprile 2014 sotto un acquazzone tremendo io e mia figlia abbiamo cercato e loggato la nostra seconda cache:
GC4ECJQ – Madonna di Prada
Il giorno prima, a Igea Marina, un amico mi aveva fatto conoscere il Geocaching. Insieme abbiamo cercato e trovato quella che per me è stata la prima cache:
GLE4ZKBM - Il vecchio lavatoio.
Ora entrambe queste cache sono state archiviate. Mi pare doveroso, in occasione del mio ottavo anno di geocaching, fare in modo che almeno una di questa riveda nuova luce.
Tra l’altro il posto è semplicemente magnifico e molto frequentato durante tutto l’anno da bambini e da adulti di tutte le età: chi in cerca di un’area per giocare che per fare una passeggiata nel verde e chi per trovare un po' di refrigerio durante le calde giornate estive.
Il Santuario della Madonna di Prada
Il Santuario, immerso nella vasta pianura alle pendici orientali del Monte Canto, tuttora circondato da uno scenario naturale di rara bellezza, risale al XV sec. E’ stato recentemente restaurato ed è dedicato alla Madonna di Prada a cui i Mapellesi sono molto devoti.
Un suggestivo viale alberato lungo ben 500 metri, collega il Santuario al paese di Mapello. E’ per lunghezza il secondo viale di tutta la bergamasca dopo quello del Santuario di Caravaggio.
La memoria popolare tramanda la tradizione secondo la quale dagli occhi di un quadro rappresentante la Vergine scaturisse dell’acqua in forma di lacrime. Quest’acqua, raccolta in un vaso alla base del dipinto, era miracolosa e veniva usata per guarire morbi e infermità. Questi straordinari eventi cessarono nel momento in cui una popolana immerse il suo cane nell’acqua benedetta.
Ma non finisce qui. Agli inizi del XVIII secolo la devozione si affievolì. Si dovettero effettuare dei lavori di recupero che comprendevano anche la muratura della nicchia con l’affresco della Vergine. Ma proprio mentre gli operai stavano iniziando a coprire la nicchia, l’impalcatura crollò senza nessun apparente motivo. Questo fatto fu interpretato come segno celeste: l’affresco doveva restare al suo posto ed è così che ancora oggi l’affresco con il volto della Vergine Maria campeggia sul muro di sinistra, proprio di fronte all’ingresso laterale della chiesa.
Ma tutto l’interno è decorato da affreschi, alcuni, quelli che contornano l’altare, molto antichi. Gli altri, quelli che adornano le pareti della navata più recenti, infatti sono stati realizzati nel 1956 dal pittore mapellese Natale Bertuletti. Osservandoli attentamente scoprirete negli sfondi dei particolari che caratterizzano la campagna mapellese.
LA CACHE
Non è stato possibile replicare il nascondiglio originale della vecchia cache in quanto oggi il muro è malridotto. Inoltre, il luogo è sempre pieno di babbani. Pertanto ho scelto un nascondiglio un po' più appartato che dovrebbe consentire una ricerca più agevole. Si raccomanda comunque la solita discrezione nella ricerca e nel riporre la cache esattamente come trovata. Grazie

GC4ECJQ - Madonna di Prada
The day before, in Igea Marina, a friend of mines introduced me to Geocaching. Together, we searched and found my first cache:
GLE4ZKBM – Il vecchio lavatoio
Now both of these caches have been archived.
It seems right to me, on the occasion of my eighth year of geocaching, to revive at least one of the two. Among other things, the place is simply magnificent and very popular throughout the year by children and adults of all ages: those looking for an area to play or to take a walk in the greenery and those to find refreshment on hot summer days.
The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Prada
The Sanctuary, immersed in the vast plain on the eastern slopes of Monte Canto, still surrounded by a natural setting of rare beauty, dates back to the 15th century. It has recently been restored and is dedicated to the Madonna di Prada to whom the people living in the nearest are very devoted.
A suggestive tree-lined avenue 500 meters long, connects the Sanctuary to the village of Mapello. It is the second longest avenue in the whole Bergamo area after that of the Sanctuary of Caravaggio.
Popular memory handed down the tradition according to which water flowed from the eyes of a painting representing the Virgin in the form of tears. This water, collected in a vase at the base of the painting, was miraculous and was used to heal diseases and infirmities. These extraordinary events ceased when a commoner dipped her dog in holy water.
But the story doesn't stop there. At the beginning of the 18th century, devotion faded. Recovery work had to be carried out which also included the masonry of the niche with the fresco of the Virgin. But just as the workers were starting to cover the niche, the scaffolding collapsed for no apparent reason. This fact was interpreted as a heavenly sign: the fresco had to remain in its place and this is how the fresco with the face of the Virgin Mary still stands out on the left wall, just in front of the side entrance of the church.
But the whole interior is decorated with frescoes, some of which are very ancient around the altar. The others, the more recent ones that adorn the walls of the nave, were in fact made in 1956 by the Mapellese painter Natale Bertuletti. By observing them carefully, you will discover in the backgrounds some details that characterize the Mapellese countryside.
THE CACHE
It was not possible to replicate the hiding spot of the old cache as the wall is run down today. Also, the place is always full of Muggles. Therefore I have chosen a slightly more secluded hiding place which should allow for an easier search. However, the usual discretion is recommended in finding and, please, place the cache exactly as found. Thanks
