NO NEED TO GO INTO THE FENCED-IN DOG PARK. This geocache is one of 66 geocaches placed for the 2022 West Bend $1,000 Cache Ba$h. The theme of this year’s Cache Ba$h is FUN AND GAMES, with this cache highlighting the game YAHTZEE.
THE GEOCACHE – HOW TO GET THERE
This two-stage multicache is located in Rolfs Nature Preserve (dogs not allowed), which is separate from but adjacent to the fenced-in Rolf’s Dog Park. Total distance round trip is approximately 2300 feet (.43 mile). You can make it slightly shorter if you bushwhack through the brush, but the instructions below have you staying on a path most of the time (see attached map for the best route highlighted in yellow):
1. Park in the lot at N43 24.328 W88 12.100
2. From there walk west to the trailhead at N43 24.333 W88 12.157
3. Hike the winding trail north, then west, then north to N43 24.441 W88 12.208
4. Go southwest on the trail into the woods to the first stage at N43 24.414 W88 12.240
5. After finding the marker at stage one, go to the final cache location at stage two. You’re done!
THE GAME
Yahtzee is a dice and scoresheet game first marketed in 1956. It can be played alone or with an unlimited number of players. The game consists of thirteen rounds, with the objective of the game being to score points by rolling five dice to make certain scoring combinations if possible. The dice can be rolled up to three times in a turn to try to complete various scoring categories. Scores are recorded on each player’s respective scoresheet. The winner is the player who scores the most points.
Yahtzee continues to be a very popular and well-known game, with well over 150 million games sold worldwide, with millions more sold each year. That’s a lot of dice and score sheets!
