This cache brings you to the 1924 Oak Hill Fire Tower in T8, R5 ~ one of the few left in Maine with its cab still on. The Tower is unique in that it has 12 ft footings & is still in comparatively great shape. A very short bushwack brings you to this great tower & a climb up the 75 ft Tower brings you to the cache, which will greet you in plain sight!
Please be sure to leave the cab in as good or better shape than you found it, which typically means closing the windows (if open) & closing the hatch door as you leave. These measures mininize risk of rain entering the cab, increasing its chances of continued good health! Thanks for visiting.

DIRECTIONS: Delorme 58.
Go 10.6 miles north on rt 11 from Knowles Corner (1.9 miles N on rt 11 of Maine Woodlands ST CROIX rd / GRAND LAKE rd intersection) and take L on to Camp Violette rd off rt 11 & bear R (dont bear L) & go 1.2 miles on this road (no sharp turns). Then, R on to Loop Rd and go straight 1.0 miles and Oak Hill Fire Tower will be visible up on L. Bushwack up to summit...5-10 min walk.
NOTE: A register historically has existed at base of tower. This is not the cache. Cache is in cab.
