Geocache Description:

A series of caches that follow the Kestrel route, created by the Harrogate Bike Trails group.

The Kestrel which is a 27 mile / 45km route starting in the centre of Harrogate and follows cycle routes or bridleways through Ripley, South Stainley, Farnham, Ferresby, Coneythorpe, Flaxby, Goldsbourough, Knaresborough and Follifoot. The route is suitable for off road bikes for all types of riders but the full route is quite challenging the route will ride significantly different with each season, many of tracks are gravel/stony or fields. Some bits can be muddy in wet weather - it's not a purpose built trail but takes in a number of lovely villages and paths. There are a number of great break-outs including pump tracks, jump tracks and it passes close by to the Red Kite and other Wetherby Bike Trails.

Parking for the Kestrel can be at the pay and display/refundable with purchase at Asda (Bower Rd, Harrogate HG1 5DE). Or free parking in Ripley (Main St, Ripley, Harrogate HG3 3AX) Please park considerately, especially if parking along the route.

The Kestrel trail is well signposted and can be accessed from various points along it's circular route.
