Salmon
Salmon are a very common fish type living in all parts of Canada especially here in the pacific ocean areas. They have a special process in which they mate and spawn. When salmon first start out, they are eggs that have been layed in freshwater riverbeds and streams. Females lay 1,500 to 10,000 eggs on average. These eggs soon turn to Alevin which continue to stay in the freshwater under rocks and gravel. Then, they turn to smolts, where they emerge from the riverbeds and begin adapting to saltwater. Soon, they turn to adults and start a few year journey swimming up to Alaska, down the BC coast, and come back to the same stream or river to spawn. There are many types of salmon from different areas and countries. Some of the main species of salmons are: Sockeye, Pink, Chinook, Coho, Chum, and Steelhead.

Welcome to the Fishy series! A series of caches made as a geoart for HAG XIX. Since this years theme is water, the series has been placed along a water related trail. Some spots along the trail have significant erosin and cliffs. Please use caution. The trail does get quite wet (and floods,) but has some great views and provides a great walk or hike. If you have solved Fishy #1, you will know where abouts to park for the rest of the series. Please close all containers properly and hide back as found. Hope everybody enjoys the series and the trail as much as I did!
