About Mooliabeenee School & Quarters
Mooliabeenie School opened in 1904, with Mr and Mrs Brown teaching. In 1913, John Peters was the teacher at Mooliabeenie, and later at Muchea. In 1915, Randall Glover planted the lemon scented gum which is still evident at the site. In 1929, centenary medals were presented to the Mooliabeenie School students during a sports day at the sports ground on Westlake's property. Between July 1930 and October 1935, the school was closed. During World War Two the school closed, and it burnt down in 1950. Mrs Ruby Scantlebury (nee Glover) and her mother Daphne Glover both attended the school and were taught by the same teacher, Mr Donagher. The adjacent tennis courts were a community venue as was the school.
