Geocache Description:

The city of Hull was once a busy port with a number of docks along the Humber Estuary. During the 20th century shipping declined and although there is still some activity a number of the docks have been filled in.
The northern section of Victoria Dock was infilled with household waste and builders rubble in 1971. Plans were later announced to turn the area into a park and it was finally completed for the Millennium in February 2000.
The semi circular 10 metre wide sundial made from marble was placed in the park at the time.
It was originally designed to be horizontal but marked out for a different location and so when placed here it had to be raised to an angle to compensate.
The hours are marked with lines made from joints in the marble, but are not numbered.
