"TADPOLE POND"
As you continue down the 'Sense of Wonder Trail' you will come to long peaceful pond. Be careful where you step if you cross any shallow water (like an inch deep). I found many tadpoles just chilling, swimming, and eating. Once you're at the geocache, if you stand still and stay quiet long enough, the frogs around the pond will come alive! You'll hear them chirp, whistle, croak, ribbit, peep, cluck, bark, etc.
Come enjoy a rough hike - consisting of a lot of bushwhacking - along the "Sense of Wonder Trail" in a little used Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation area open to the public. This trail is not maintained and you'll be bushwhaking during your entire hike (2-3 miles round trip). Also - As you go further and further down the trail the more rigorous bushwhacking becomes!
Please see the coordinates (below) to the trailhead for the the "Sense of Wonder Trail". This trailhead is the only public access to the trail. At the trailhead, follow the trail down and around and under the railroad bridge.
The best way to get to the trailhead (which is currently unmarked) is to park at the provided parking coordinates and walk along the main trail though the 'Penningroth Barn - Indian Creek Nature Center area' and across the swinging bridge. This entire area is open to the public year round.
Please also note that none of the geocaches in this series are on or near any railroad tracks.
