Geocache Description:

Look west to see the overgrown and ruined remnants of the first drive-in theater in Logan. Drivers of U.S. Hwy 89/91 see the most visible leftover daily -- a large cement wall with slanted wings. This wall once backed a wooden frame for a drive in's movie screen.

In July 1947, the Logan Drive In opened with a showing of “A Lady Takes a Chance”, starring Jean Arthur. It closed about a decade later, victim of changing technologies and fierce competition with the newer and larger Cache Drive In on the north end of town (where Sam’s Club is now.) The site then became a junkyard for old automobiles. Now it stands abandoned and overgrown.

A local historian visited the site in the 90s and reported finding ruined structures he identified as the drive in's restrooms and its old projection building and snack bar, as well as some of its old car speaker poles and fixtures. You may still see those old buildings from the street, but all that's left of this tattered piece of Americana may not be there for long.

The area is overgrown in summer and may have dangerous, uneven footing at all times of the year. There is an apparent retaining pond on the corner, which currently holds scummy water. You do not need to enter this area to find the cache.

The posted coordinates are not the location of the final cache. Enter the answer to the following question into Certitude to get the final coordinates:

Who was the male lead in the first movie shown at the Logan Drive In? (two words, no spaces)

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

This cache is part of the series, MountainHobbit's Mathoms, Year 16. Don't know what a mathom is? Check out Chapter 1 in the Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien to find out the reason for this hobbity celebration!

Congratulations to SkiJax27, who dodged diverse pricklies after driver's ed for the FTF!
