While exploring Mt Barney on the weekend, we encountered an unexpected monument commemorating an event that took place on this spot many decades ago. We were so surprised to find this monument, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. There are no tracks leading to this spot and reaching it will require picking your way through the rocks and vegetation that cover the area. You should exercise caution as the ground could be slippery and wet underfoot and there could be unseen obstacles in the undergrowth.
The best approach is from Rum Jungle. As usual, climbing Mt Barney should only be attempted if you are a fit and experienced bushwalker. There are no easy routes although Peasant's Ridge is the easiest.
To find the cache, you must get information from the monument to answer the following questions:
A = the fourth digit on the plaque
B = the fifth digit on the plaque
C = the last digit on the plaque
D = the first digit on the plaque
W = the number of letters in the fourth word on the fourth line
X = the number of letters in the first word on the third line
Y = the number of letters in the sixth word on the firstline
Z = the number of letters in the second word on the third line
