Work Day in the Long Meadow at Horsbere Brook
Parking: Suggested parking is in the car park at the provided coords, there is a footbridge to take you over to Horsbere. Or if there is space you can park by the gates leading in to the brook (alternative parking).
Where: Meet by the main gate at 0930 (alternative parking coords) or find us in the long meadow (published coords) just look for the flag. Please note you will need to access the balancing pond via the waypointed kissing gate if coming from the track.
What: We will be continuing the fencing along the brook where the foothpath is now close to the brook edge due to bank erosion. We will also be pulling ragwort and trimming path edges.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and tools if necessary. Drop by if you have any time to spare and don't worry about not knowing what to do - none of us do, but the ranger will set us straight!
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
We ask you to bring your own gloves and where appropriate tools, so if you have a hammer, a drill, sheers or loppers then please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have them as the ranger will have a supply.
If you are pulling ragwort please bring gloves and wear long sleeves.
Please make sure you bring along your own refreshments as it can be thirsty work!
