Geocache Description:

While driving through the area, I realized how few caches are out here. I saw some good earth cache opportunities here. This one should be pretty easy. There is no container to find. Read over the lesson and either email or message me the answers to the questions below. Failure to do so will result in you log being deleted. You don't have to get them all correct, just you have to put a good effort in to ensure they are close as you can get them.

Butte- A tall, steep sided, flat topped tower of rock. They were created through erosion. Erosion is the gradual wearing away of the earth from wind, water and ice. Buttes were previously parts of mesas or plateaus. Erosion did its work and made them smaller rock towers knows as buttes. The difference that sets buttes apart from mesas and plateaus is the size. Buttes are the smallest of the 3 and plateaus are the largest.

Mesa-A tall, steep sided, flat topped "table" of rock. It is a bigger formation. It is the same as a butte except bigger.

Plateau- A steep, flat topped rock formation. A plateau may rise up sharply and not drop off for a long distance. It is the biggest formation of the 3.

To get credit for this earth cache, please email or message me the answers to these questions below:

1. The formation seen from the posed coordinates. Is the formation to the right of the big mountain a butte, or mesa?

2. How long would you estimate that formation is?

3. How far out from the posted coordinates do you estimate the formation is?

4. Explain in your own words how Buttes form.

Pictures are encouraged! My only ask is please do not post any pictures with spoilers in them. Your picture may be deleated if it contains spoilers.
