On July 11, 2022 a plaque has been placed on Mt. Rose-Swanson in memory of Case Out.

Case was an avid hiker and loved being outdoors. He spent a lot of time clearing the trails of Mt. Rose-Swanson.
The area, that has been named 'Case's Corner', was one of his projects. This piece of wooded land is wet and muddy in the spring. Case decided to divert the trail to higher grounds away from this boggy area. You can still see the old trail which is now overgrown and has lots of deadfall. This is how hiking trails would look like without volunteers like Case maintaining them.
When geocaching in spring, be aware that getting to the cache might get your boots wet and muddy. In summer and fall it will be just a short bushwack. The cache should also be available with snow on the ground.
We hope you are enjoying the trails of Mt Rose-Swanson as much as Case used to.
