After 3,139 finds, we decided we know enough about caching to finally place one of our own.
This is a simple, two-stage multi cache which will bring you to a historical marker and then after a very short walk, to the actual building described in the marker. This is in our neighborhood and we passed the marker and building countless times over the years. We always thought it was strange that this sign was a few blocks away from the building it's commemorating. Parking should not be a problem, as there are ample street spaces allowing for free two-hour parking. At the first stage, you will also be across the street from our favorite corner store. Stop in and say hi to Mr. and Mrs. Ko and get yourself a cold drink or treat.
Stage 1:
At the posted coordinates you will find a historical marker. Read the sign to solve for the final coordinates. It will be a quick walk (less than five minutes).
A = The last digit in the year the Home Theatre was designed in Moorish Revival Style
B = The first digit in the street address of the Home Theatre
C = The third digit in the year architect William S. Plager was born
D = The number corresponding to the letter street where the Home Theatre is located (ex: A St. = 1, B St. = 2)
E = The third digit in the year the Home Theater was redesigned
F = The last digit in the year when architect William S. Plager died
N 38° 53.ABC W 076° 59.DEF
Stage 2:
You’ll be standing in front of the old Home Theatre (Art Deco redesign). It now operates as a church and has since 1952. You are looking for a nano. Cache is on public property, not anywhere on the church building or in the landscaping.
