⚒Zeche Zollern II/IV⚒ ALC Bonus

Die Zeche Zollern II/IV ist heute einer von acht Museumsstandorten des dezentral angelegten LWL-Industriemuseums, das zugleich hier seinen Sitz hat. Die Zechenanlage ist ein Ankerpunkt der Route der Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet und der Europäischen Route der Industriekultur (ERIH).
Diese schlossähnliche Industrieanlage mit ihren prunkvollen Hallen wurde bereits 1905 in einem Reiseführer erwähnt.
Diese Musterzeche war die erste in Deutschland mit einer elektrischen Fördermaschine, die in 1902 Betrieb genommen wurde. Die Maschinenhalle wurde aus Zeitgründen als Stahlfachwerk gebaut und verfügt über nur einen Maschinenpark, der die Wartung vereinfachte.
Die kathedralenhafte Maschinenhalle hat ein in ganz Europa einzigartiges Jugendstilportal. In Zeiten der Hochkonjunktur wurde beim Bau und der Planung nicht nur auf die Wirtschaftlichkeit geachtet, sondern besonders auf das äußere Erscheinungsbild. So gibt es ein sehenswertes Verwaltungsgebäude mit prunkvollen Backsteinfassaden.
Täglich wurden hier bis zu 2000 Tonnen Kohle am Tag gefördert. Bis zur Stilllegung im Jahr 1955 sollte die Zeche auf Verschleiß gefahren werden. An der ursprünglichen Bausubstanz wurden somit keine Sanierungen durchgeführt.
Das Bergwerk wurde auf Grund von Bürgerprotesten am 30.12.1969 von Hermann Busen als erstes Industriebauwerk unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. Von 1973 bis 1981 stand es unter Obhut des deutschen Bergbaumuseums in Bochum, das die ersten Erhaltungs- und Restaurierungsmaßnahmen durchführte. Das heutige Erscheinungsbild verdankt es dem Landschaftsverband-Westfallen-Lippe an das es im Jahr 1981 übergeben wurde.

Today, the Zollern II/IV colliery is one of eight museum locations of the decentralised LWL Industrial Museum, which is also located here. The colliery is an anchor point of the Route of Industrial Heritage in the Ruhr Area and the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH).
This castle-like industrial complex with its magnificent halls was already mentioned in a travel guide in 1905.
This "model colliery" ("Musterzeche") was the first in Germany with an electric winding machine, which was put into operation in 1902. Due to time constraints, the machine hall was built as a steel framework and has only one machine park, which simplified maintenance.
The cathedral-like machine hall has an Art Nouveau portal that is unique in the whole of Europe. In times of boom, not only economic efficiency was taken into account during construction and planning, but especially on the external appearance. There is an administrative building worth seeing with magnificent brick facades.
Up to 2000 tons of coal per day were mined here every day. Until its closure in 1955, the mine was to be driven to wear and tear. Thus, no renovations were carried out on the original building fabric.
Due to citizen protests, the mine was placed under monument protection by Hermann Busen on 30.12.1969 as the first industrial building. From 1973 to 1981 it was under the care of the German Mining Museum in Bochum, which carried out the first conservation and restoration measures. It owes its current appearance to the Regional Association Westfallen-Lippe, to which it was handed over in 1981.
