Geocaching NSW would like to invite all geocachers to attend our next event, a Meet'n'Greet at the Fernleigh Cafe adjacent to the Fernleigh Track Cycleway/Walkway created along the route of a former rail corridor in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie regions.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends with a common interest, pick up the latest information on equipment, techniques and software, share stories about the latest caching adventure and swap travel bugs and geocoins. You may even pick up a hint on those pesky DNFs or get a clue or two on how to solve a puzzle cache you’ve been stumped on.
Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 23rd October, 2022.
Event Time: 10:00am to 11:00am.
Location: The Fernleigh Cafe, corner Fletcher St and Bailey St, Adamstown
Parking: Local street parking is available.
Cost: There is no cost to attend this event.
Refreshments: Food and drink are available from the cafe if you wish to purchase. Please BYO sufficient personal food/drink requirements for the bike ride activity.
Photo: A group photo will be taken during the event.
Dogs: Your geopup is permitted along the Fernleigh Track but must be kept under control on a short lead.
The Bike Ride: After the Meet'n'Greet event, for those who wish to and departing around 11:15am, we will ride the Fernleigh Track to Belmont. The total track length is 15km, one way. For a shorter ride, there are other entry/exit points along the track. Check out the City of Newcastle website for more information including the brochure and track map. Here is a link....
Fernleigh Track Information
After the Bike Ride: Once you have completed the Fernleigh Track bike ride, let's meet for lunch beside Lake Macquarie at Belmont, (see lunch waypoint). Either bring your own lunch or there are food outlets in the nearby shopping precinct. Unfortunately, due to event stacking rules, we are unable to hold an official GC.com event here but this is still a good chance for people to catch up again.
Please post your "Will Attend" so you can receive announcements about this event.
Here's hoping you can come along and help make this event an enjoyable social geocaching gathering.
Cheers,
Geocaching NSW Committee
