The Hilltop Nature Preserve is 119 acres of a variety of habitats -- woods, prairie, riparian. There are hiking trails and a map can be found on the Oak Heritage Conservancy website. Some of the trails are 'in progress' so the map may not reflect every trail on the property. William and Mary Doud, who purchased this land in 1946, donated it to the Oak Heritage Conservancy in 2004, so that it may be protected and enjoyed forever. It is open to the public.
The Oak Heritage Conservancy is a non-profit land trust that protects and preserves natural habitats in 11 counties in Southeastern Indiana. They currently own 14 properties, have easements on 2 more, and protect over 1100 total acres.
The cache is located at the base of a clump of Honey Locust trees -- watch out, those trees have thorns! Or as I might say, even thorny trees need love.
