About the Geotour Launch
Representatives from the ANSG will be onsite from 12:00pm – 4:00pm to provide more information about the Geotour, answer questions and general geo-chat.
So what's a Geotour? As explained by Geocaching HQ:
"Combine geocaching and travel to uplevel your vacations. GeoTour Hosts highlight the best of the best from their destination. Discover the possibilities, plan with interactive maps, and use the official Geocaching® app while on location. Find all the caches in a GeoTour in order to receive a unique digital souvenir. The hardest part will be choosing which GeoTour to do first! Pack your bags, and take off on a cache-pedition."
So at this event we invite you to help us celebrate the launch of the Atlantic Canada’s Hidden Histories GeoTour. This Geotour has been designed to take you on adventures in the Atlantic Provinces to visit sites that demonstrate the rich, diverse histories of Atlantic Canada that have previously been underrepresented or perhaps are little known.
For the first phase of this tour, you will discover locations that celebrate the deep, Black history of Atlantic Canada. This phase consists of two segments, each of which will have their own passports, and thanks to the generosity of our partners and sponsors, a Geocoin to be earned for each segment!
- Six locations in the greater Fredericton , New Brunswick area
- Ten locations in various Nova Scotia communities
To complete each segment, you will be seeking a geocache at each location and punching your passport with the punches provided in the containers or filling in the answer to a question on the passport sheet. Once you have completed each segment, you can submit your passport to obtain the geocoin for that segment.
Once available you may download the Nova Scotia passport here. Availability as well as details on the timing of the publishing of the caches will be delivered via Announcements so be sure to Log your Will attend today!
