From the time when kids had to walk uphill both way to school. There was dozens of country schools across the county ensuring that no kid had to walk more than 3 miles
The Yuma County School project set out to locate and mark as many of these schools as possible Anyone wanting more information can stop into the Wray Museum.
Starting in the 20's schools in the area started consolidating and coming to Laird a bigger school was needed. This school ran until about 1959 when it consolidated with Wray. At some point the top story was removed and the part that you now see was retained for a community center
