Bispestova høyrer til Lavik prestegard og ligg i Høyanger kommune i Vestland i nærleiken av Lavik kyrkje. Hovudbygningen og Bispestova på garden er freda av Riksantikvaren.
I ei lita bygd som Lavik kom biskopen i blant på besøk på prestegarden. Han sov då i dette bygget, som dermed heiter Bispestova. Bispestova er truleg frå tidleg 1800-talet. Bygget har blitt ombygd fleire gonger og har hatt variert bruk som blant anna vognskjul, skule og bustad. Stova blei flytta til sin noverande plassering rundt 1935.
Fram til i 2019 har Lavik hagelag stått som eigar, medan det no er Venneforeininga som eig bispestova. Dei har stått for mykje av innsatsen med å ta vare på den historiske bygningen. I 2011 starta restaureringa av den godt over 200 år gamle Bispestova.
Tømrarane i Nedre Jølster Bilelag AS har stått for arbeidet. Dei er spesialistar på mellom anna lafting og grindbygg og har lang erfaring innan restaurering av gamle bygg. Alt arbeidet i bygget har blitt dokumentert og utført i tråd med gammal byggeskikk.
Sommar 2018 fekk tapetsermeister Einar Nilsson, kjend frå TV2-serien «Tid for hjem», oppdraget med å tapetsere det største rommet i Bispestova på gamlemåten.
Venneforeininga for Bispestova i Lavik har skaffa gamle møblar som no prydar stova. Stova er innreia til ca. år 1800. Det står ein bjelke ute i gangen med årstalet 1804 inngravert, men stova er truleg eldre.
Lavik hagelag har planta forskjellige planter og staudar rundt bispestova, medan kommunen har sett opp eit steinbord og steinbenker utanfor huset og fjerna krattskogen.
Cachen er ein liten boks med loggbok, pen og eventuelt plass til ein byteting.

This bispestove («bishopsroom») belongs to Lavik parsonage and is situated in Høyanger municipality in Vestland, close to Lavik Church. Both the main building of the parsonage and the bispestove are protected by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage.
In a small village like Lavik, it used to be the tradition that the bishop would visit the parsonage by boat. He then slept in this building, thereby the name Bispestova. The Bispestove is truly from the early 1800s. The building has been rebuilt numerous times and has throughout the years functioned as a carriage building, school and as a residence. The building was moved to its current position in 1935.
The Lavik garden society was the owner of the building until 2019. Currently it’s the specially established society “Friends of the Bispestove” who own the building. They have taken on the restoration of the historical building. The restauration process started in 2011.
The carpentry firm Nedre Jølster Bilelag AS have been a large part of the restoration. They are specialized in restoring historic buildings. All work in the building has been documented and executed in the traditionally correct way.
During the summer of 2018 master-wall paperer Einar Nilsson, known from the Norwegian TV2 show «Tid for hjem», wallpapered the largest room in the building in the traditional way.
The “Friends of the Bispestove” society have furnished the building with old furniture. It is furnished and decorated as it would have been in the year 1800. There is a beam in the hallway that has the year 1804 engraved, but the building is thought to be older.
The Lavik garden society has planted different plants and shrubbery around the Bispestove, and the local municipality has contributed with a stone picnic table and benches.
The cache contains a logbook and a pen. There is room for a trinket.
