Geocache Description:

When 1000 Islands Nature Preserve is mentioned, many think of the area around the nature center, the Fox River, and the boardwalk trails. However, there is a lot more of the preserve that can be explored on the other side of Dodge Street/County Road Z. This cache will take you to the southern most parking option and lesser used trail access point. Enjoy your stroll through the preserve!

Camp Winnecomac is a local Girl Scout Camp that also uses the parking lot in this portion of the nature preserve. Please do not enter the camp property, and if there is an event going on at camp, you may opt to instead park and approach cache from the north. There is a trail access point just north of the parking lot off Hillcrest Drive as well.

Please stay on trails when exploring 1000 Islands. Permission to place geocaches here are contingent on remaining near the trail and no bushwacking to the container.

Permission to place cache received from Debra Nowak, Director/Naturalist, 1000 Islands Environmental Center.
