EST: Punkri rajas väidetavalt Mihkel Ellermaa oma meestega, peale Hundiaugu punkri juures olnud lahingut ja sealt põgenemist. Esialgu oli siin vähe mehi, kuid peale Käntu lahingut tuli neid juurde. Teistes allikates mainitakse aga hoopis selle punkri tekkimist peale Põdraraba punkri hävitamist. Loodeti Ertsma punkris talvituda, aga sellest teadsid paljud külamehed ja ka punkri elanikud käisid tihti asulas. Nii leitigi endine metsavend, kes viis ründajad kohale.
27. veebruaril 1949 hommikul kella kaheksa ajal alustati rünnakut, see kestis neli tundi, pääses mõni üksik mees.

ENG: The bunker was built by Mihkel Ellermaa with his men, after the battle at Hundiaugu bunker and escaping from there. At first, here were few men living here, but after the battle of Käntu, more of them. However, other sources mention the creation of this bunker after the destruction of Põdraraba bunker. They hoped to spend the winter in the Ertsma bunker, but many villagers knew about the place, and the inhabitants of the bunker often visited the settlement for couple of drinks. That's how the former forest brother was found by communists, who led the attackers to the place.
On February 27, 1949, at eight o'clock in the morning, the attack was launched, it lasted four hours and only few men escaped.
