Geocache Description:

12 November 2022, 10:00 - 10:30

This is an opportunity on a Saturday morning to have a meetup in Postman's Park and chat about all things geocaching. Any tourists in town? Come by and we'll see if you can answer your questions about any local caches. Postman's Park is a lovely park small city park and the memorial is very poignant, with presumably a new entry added recently. We'll be meeting from 10 am for half an hour and then going our separate ways. Usual trackable swaps, etc all available. Look out for the person wearing the London Calling t-shirt near GZ.

This is one of the weirder days in the City of London's calendar. We're talking about the day of the Lord Mayor's Show, and I'm dragging cachers into the City of London while that's all going on. But not for the show (we're not affiliated, and not meeting at a location during the show, or where you can see the show from). But we'll have to put up with everything to do with the show - this means minimal transport options in the city. Expect there to be no buses running anywhere in the city of London - tubes/trains might be running but check on the day, and expect crowds. It's basically organised chaos, and so the terrain rating has been increased to reflect that.

There are a few benefits - St Pauls's is usually open for free on the day of the Lord Mayor's Show (it's always open for worship for free, but I'm talking general admission). There's also the razmataz of the actual show if you decide to go watch some of it later. Watch out for Gog and Magog at the front of the parade, and let's see if the Worshipful Company of Farmers bring their robot sheep again this year, or try to take a combine harvester through the medieval streets of old London.

The London Calling 2023 Committee are going on tour! We didn't get to do this much during the run-up to our first Mega, so we're very pleased we can get out and about and see lots of local cachers around the country and the world! If you're considering attending our London Mega, then please take a looking at the listing here: GC9MAXX
