WELCOME TO THE SUMMER PADDLE SERIES
This summer I thought it would be fun to make some geocaches for the local ponds and lakes. This series is to give you more opportunity to use your watercraft and geocache at the same time.
Watercraft: These were hidden using a kayak. Some of the locations will not be approachable with a motor watercraft. Some of the locations lie only in 10 inches of water (at the time of placement).
These hides will vary: (traditional, mystery, wherigo, multi)
- Some of these hides will require you to get out of your watercraft
- Some an be retrieved and signed from within your watercraft;
- Some may be under the water
Cache containers:
- vary in size and type
- zipped tied to prevent being lost
- contain a "Never Soggy Log" which consits of plastic card and etching tool. You are welcome to leave your initials to save space. If caching as a group, you may create a group name and only sign with that--please identify how you signed on the geocaching.com cache page (with initials or group name). Hopefully this will make these maintance free for many years.
Safety:
Please follow all Maine boating laws
- Personal Flotation Device (PDF)
- Children 10 years of age and under must, by law, wear a Type I, II, or III PFD while on board all watercraft.
- All boaters should wear a PFD at all times in small boats, even if you think you're a strong swimmer.
- Plan and record your route ahead of time
- Notify someone of your intended route and time of return; and monitor conditions carefully.
This Hide:
Do not attempt this from land-that is private property. Retrievable from boat.
Happy Caching
