When you visit Rome, the Farmers Market is always a sure place to find great local items of interest. Arts, crafts, flowers, fruits, veggies and occasionally some of our organic free range chickens.
We don't always do the best job collecting eggs, and some of our girls take the opportunity to get broody and start raising a family of their own, even though we don't have room for more birds. When this happens, we let them get big enough that they don't need mom anymore. Our daugther gives them unique names - Méme, Penguini, and Pepino are some of our big girls. Once they are named, we take them to the big town of Rome to try our luck at selling our chicks. Sometimes, we do not know the sex of the birds before we try to sell them. Sometimes we do. Hens are always easier to sell than rooster.
The last time, we had a rough time selling the batch because, as luck would have it, we had all roosters.
Nobody wanted to but any of these birds: Trajan, Ignatius, Valerian, Carinus, Theodosius Arcadius, or Caligula.
We don't make chicken soup out of roosters, but maybe you will find this puzzle as easy as (chicken pot) pie.
