This small cache in a plastic container is hidden in The Hawarden Waikari Lions Reserve, which is located on the corner of Moore Street and O’Carrolls Road, Hawarden. Upon placing the cache contained a logbook, pencil and a trackable "First to Find" coin.
The Lions Reserve is a small native reserve developed by the Hawarden Waikari Lions as a year 2000 environment project. The reserve features a large metal globe sculpture, a small footbridge over an open drain, native plantings, seating and shade trees. Across the road on O'Carroll's Road is a Fruit and Vegetable sharing shed where locals can share seedlings and crops from their gardens.
It is hoped that this cache will draw attention to this beautiful little park, and the globe sculpture hidden within it. Grab a snack from the Four Square, or if you are lucky grab a piece of fruit from the Fruit and Vege sharing shed, and take a rest on the picnic table under the trees.
