Geocache Description:

WELCOME TO NIFTY FIFTY!

This kid-friendly multi will take you on a leisurely 1-mile stroll around Lake Temescal in Oakland. You will collect a single digit number at each of the six stages. They will be used for the coordinates that lead to Ground Zero and a math equation that must be solved to access the cache container.

Be sure to use waypoints for guidance to each stage.  The numbers are all out in the open at waist level or below.  No need to climb, lift, or move anything to spot them.  Here's what you're looking for:

Let's get started!

Stage A:  From the south parking lot, go to the large information sign with a map of Lake Temescal.  Can you find the number?  Nicely done.  You will be traveling clockwise around the lake from here.

Stage B:  Follow the path north along the west edge of the shoreline.  Step onto the concrete platform and enjoy the view.

Stage C:  Continue on the path and reach the foot of the dock. If you crouch down low enough and have good vision, you may be able to see the number from there.

Stage D:  Head up the stairs to the lawn area and follow the main path along the edge of the lake. Find the large pine tree on the rock wall terrace and explore the heavy chain link.

Stage E:  Walk down to the beach area below.  When you reach the pay phone go up the stairs and turn right, walking through the patio of the park building.  Meet up with the waterfall trail and turn left up the hill.  Climb to the top and stop at the splash pool where the waterfall begins.  Your number will be found here.

Stage F:  Follow the waterfall trail back to the main path below.  Turn left and head towards the south end of the lake.  Pass through the climbing boulders to the pair of benches that sit next to a rare deciduous conifer...the Dawn Redwood.

WELL DONE!

You now have all six numbers.

N 37° 50.ABC' W 122° 13.DEF'

1) Plug your numbers into the coordinates above.  This will guide you to Ground Zero!

2) Use the 6 numbers to solve the equation below.  The three-digit number will be used to access the cache container!

(A + B + C) x (D + E + F) = Z

Z + 465 = COMBINATION TO THE LOCK!

CONGRATULATIONS!  YOU DID IT!
