Viadotto ferroviario sull’Ardo

[ Storia ] La costruzione del ponte ferroviario sul torrente Ardo fu avviata nel 1911 con la realizzazione sino a Longarone, del primo troncone della linea per Calalzo di Cadore (ultimato nel 1912). L’opera, completamente in muratura, risultò di significativa grandezza con i suoi 33 metri di altezza e 160 di lunghezza con cinque luci di 20 metri e tre di 8. Con la “Rotta di Caporetto”, il genio militare, per ritardare l’avanzata austriaca, fece saltare alcuni ponti della linea e tra questi quello sull’Ardo. Il genio militare austriaco, in breve tempo, riattivò l’esercizio della linea costruendo in ferro e legno una struttura provvisoria in sostituzione delle 5 luci fatte crollare dagli italiani. Il nuovo ponte, per effetto della controffensiva italiana e della sconfitta delle armate austriache nella Battaglia del Piave, fu a sua volta fatto brillare. Finita la guerra, il ponte venne ricostruito, sempre in muratura, in forme meno eleganti rispetto al precedente manufatto, ma i lavori furono eseguiti così celermente da consentire la riattivazione dell’intera linea già nel 1919.
[ Cache ] La Cache è su un componente della linea elettrica ferroviaria. Per rimettere il Logbook nella cache va arrotolato e inserito nel tappo prima di chiuderla
ATTENZIONE: la cache è raggiungibile solo dal percorso pedonale, quindi è assolutamente vietato scavalcare la recinzione o introdursi in qualsiasi altro modo sui binari del treno.

[ History ] The construction of the railway bridge over the Ardo stream began in 1911 with the construction, up to Longarone, of the first section of the line for Calalzo di Cadore (the last in 1912). The work, completely in masonry, was of considerable size with its 33 meters in height and 160 in length with five span of 20 meters and three of 8. With the "Rotta di Caporetto", the military genius, to delay the Austrian advance, blew up some bridges of the line and among these the one over the Ardo. The Austrian military genius, in a short time, reactivated the operation of the line by building a structure in iron and wood to accompany the 5 span made the Italians collapse. The new bridge, due to the Italian counter-offensive and the defeat of the Austrian armies in the battle of the Piave, was in turn made to shine. After the war, the bridge was rebuilt, again in masonry, in less elegant forms than the previous building, but the works were carried out so quickly that the entire line could be reactivated as early as 1919.
[ Cache ] The cache is located on a component of the railway power line. To put the Logbook back in the cache, it must be rolled up and inserted into the cap before closing it.
ATTENTION: the cache can only be reached from the pedestrian path, so it is absolutely forbidden to climb over the fence or otherwise access the train tracks.
