Senecio inaequindens – senecione sudafricano

Questa specie alloctona, proveniente dall’Africa meridionale, sta diventando particolarmente invasiva in Europe. Sta creando infatti numerosi problemi alla biodiversità autoctona. Inoltre incide negativamente sulla pastorizia in quanto produce sostanze tossiche per gli animali (a volte letali per i cavalli) che possono essere trasmesse al latte o persino al miele attraverso il nettare.
È una pianta erbacea con aspetto cespuglioso che fiorisce principalmente da tarda estate e per tutto l’autunno. L’infiorescenza presenta numerosi capolini con fiori gialli. Le foglie sono strette, carnosette, denticolate, prive di picciolo e alterne. Grazie all’apparato radicale superficiale è
possibile eradicarla manualmente.

Contribuiremo, per quanto possibile, alla rimozione manuale della specie presso il Pascolo Sociale di Basovizza, ai piedi del monte Cocusso.

L’evento durerà circa 2 ore.
Per chi ha piacere, al termine dell’evento, con una passeggiata di un’ora circa, si può raggiungere la cima del Monte Cocusso. Qui possiamo fermarci assieme a pranzare al sacco o ordinare al rifugio posto sul confine.
Portare guanti e abbigliamento adeguato. Vi verranno forniti dei sacchi per la raccolta delle piante.
A fini organizzativi, è preferibile l’iscrizione all’evento entro venerdì 23 settembre ore 12:00.

Senecio inaequindens – South African ragwort

This allocton species, native from South Africa, is becoming strongly invasive in Europe. In fact, it is creating numerous problems for indigenous biodiversity. It also negatively affects herding as it produces toxic substances for animals (sometimes lethal for horses) which can be transmitted to milk or even honey through nectar.
It is an herbaceous plant with a bushy appearance that blooms mainly from late summer and throughout the autumn. The inflorescence has numerous flower heads with yellow flowers. The leaves are narrow, fleshy, denticulated, without petiole and alternate. Thanks to the superficial
root system it is possible to eradicate it manually.

We will contribute, as far as possible, to the manual removal of the species at the Social Pasture of Basovizza, at the base of Mount Cocusso.

The event will take about 2 hours.
For those who like it, at the end of the event, with a walk of about an hour, it is possible to reach the top of Mount Cocusso. Here we can stop together for a picnic or order at the Mountain retreat, located on the border.
Bring gloves and suitable clothing. You will be provided with bags to collect the plants.
