Pinkney Park is named after Simeon Pinkney, a former slave who rose to become a property owner and farmer on this 7-acre James Island property in 1874. Paying only $350 for the land, Pinkney used it to farm and raise a family. In 2016, the land was sold to the Town of James Island, who developed it into a community park for all. Recent upgrades include a playground and pavillion, while future upgrades include an outdoor ampitheater and possibly water access.
The cache is located in a wooded area in the heart of the park. You are looking for a medium-sized tupperware container clearly marked as a geocache. Parking is located off of Fort Johnson at the park entrance. The trail is unpaved, so remain cautious while searching. Token included for whoever is the FTF.
