What do you do when you realise that maybe you’ve got one or two extra things in your kit that you need to do something with? Well, maybe this is an idea, a bunch of bisons on one of the busiest roads in Sydney (well, by my reckoning, because I have to drive on it more often that I would like), and make them accessible by bike. All the hides are less than a metre from the bike path, and take note that one section of the bike path does require a short detour through some quiet streets. As the name suggests, all hides are bisons, so BYOP and no room for swaps etc. You can consider this a numbers cache pretty much, but it’ll give you a reason to get onya bike!
The trail was meant to be done in numerical order and that way, you have a safe place to leave your car and start your adventure. There is a lift at Macarthur Station that you can put your bike in to get you on your way. It’s about 18km out and back, with a bit of a slog on the way out, but you’ll enjoy the downhill return!
As for Narellan Road itself? What a disaster! The road pretty much follows the original train line between Campbelltown and Camden up to the Narellan Town Centre area. Ever since they started developing the Mt Annan and Currans Hill, this road failed to cope with the ensuing traffic, and in fact had two massive roundabouts that used to cause massive traffic jams. But even with the replacement of the roundabouts, no real relief was really acquired. Even after two years of waiting for an extra lane to be constructed, by the time they opened it up, so many extra homes had been completed in Harrington Park, the relief was only temporary. Not sure what the next move may be!
So get on your bike, and avoid the traffic, and enjoy the fresh (ish) air.
