The country was introduced to the "Greasers" fromTulsa in the film "The Outsiders" from a book written by " Susan Eloise Hinton aka S.E. Hinton and put to Film by Francis Ford Coppola. Susan began writing her novel at the age of 15 while still in school at Rogers High School in Tulsa. A teacher in California later read the book with her class and contacted Francis Ford Coppola to suggest it be put to film. This cache is placed with the permission and in cooperation of Upward Sperry and "The Outsiders House Museum". NOTE: AFTER YOU PUT THE COMBINATION IN YOU MUST SQUEEZE THE SHACKLE DOWN TO POP IT OPEN.

After the filming was completed in 1982, many of the locatons used for the film fell into disrepair and even some vanished due to progress. This casch and future caches in the Tusa area like it,is to highlight those locations and inspire new readers and movie viewers.
This former DX gas station film location is where Characters Sodapop Curtis and Steve Randle worked and was frequented by the gang of "Greasers" that were thier friends and family.
This location is part of a developing self guided tour of as many of the remaining locatons that can be located and hopefully restored.
Please respect the property and only look for the cache on the outer perimeter of the building, The cache should be visible or obvious if you use the parking provided on the north end of the street.
