Welcome to Alamance County's newest natural area, opened May of 2020. The Longleaf trail is the second loop opened in the park, so named due to the Longleaf pines scattered through the area. As you can learn from signs along the trail, the Longleaf pine benefits from regular episodes of fire. Placed this cache while dealing with another of mine nearby that had succumbed to a prescribed burn. That fate may some day befall this one as well, but not today. Trailhead is accessed from the parking lot at the end of the gravel drive.
