Geocache Description:

Just to avoid confusion this cache can (and was always intended to) be accessed without having to walk on the road. The cache is just outside a wooden gate at the boundary of the graveyard.

This is MaPaSon81's local church. We've been here on multiple occasions since the 1980s. It is very much an active church, and not just for weddings, baptisms and funerals. Every month of the year there is plenty going on; coffee mornings, summer holiday activities, girl guide/boy scout type groups, craft clubs and a small library. It is the hub of the village.
The Church of St Mary, Barham is a Grade I listed building.
As with every local church I've studied its origins date back to medieval times. Down throughout the centuries it has constantly been added to, most recently in 1980 when a church room was added north of the nave, which you can clearly see from the car park.
Up until recently the church was locked when not in use but recently it's often open during daylight hours so if you get the opportunity to I'd recommend taking a look inside.
