Geocache Description:

This Geocache is located next to Morby Cottage. The cottage was the home of John Morrell, the first European to settle in Northam in 1832. He built the cottage in 1836 with locally sourced materials of granite, mud, timbers and roof shingles. Remarkably, he had brought the doors windows and glass with him from England.

The cottage also served as Northam’s first church, school, courthouse, store and post office. Its believed to be one of the three oldest cottages that still exist from pioneer days. It has since now been restored and is housing many of the Morrell family heirlooms.
