In 2004 GSAK – Geocaching Swiss Army Knife – V3.0 was released to the geocaching community. It was created as a tool to download pocket queries of caches, manage the created database and upload caches in bulk to handheld gps devices. It was only developed for use with PC computers. Several additional macros were added to complete various actions such as mapping and particularly to create individual caching statistics.
In particular, was a macro that awarded various Badges for individual caching accomplishments. BadgeGen was originally created and maintained by Kyle Mills around 2005 until 2020 when the ownership of BadgeGen was transferred to the founder of Project-GC and is now part of their extensive cacher profile statistics. The BadgeGen All Around Cacher Badge is awarded for logging caches in all 360 degree sectors from your posted Geocaching home coordinates. Project-GC tracks how many caches you have found in each sector anywhere in the world and recognizes each complete circle.
Project-GC has a tool to assist with the The All Around Cacher badge. All bearings are calculated using a Spherical bearing algorithm from each geocachers home coordinates. This also will display caches unfound caches by you within a degree bearing on the map tab.
Those of us who live on the west side of Michigan have difficulty finding caches within some of these 1 degree increments. The lake is so close that the area to place caches is very small.
