We wsi Jankowo, niedaleko Drawska Pomorskiego, można zobaczyć spuściznę Waltera Gropiusa - wybitnego architekta i założyciela Bauhausu. W Jankowie i okolicach powstało kilka budynków zaprojektowanych przez Gropiusa, który zaczynał tu swoją przygodę z projektowaniem, by później stać się jednym z najwybitniejszych architektów, pionierem modernizmu, twórcą Bauhausu - pierwszej na świecie uczelni artystycznej kształcącej w dziedzinie wzornictwa przemysłowego oraz nurtu w architekturze.
Spichlerz w Jankowie
Gropius zaprojektował w Jankowie pare budynków dla lokanego folwarku, m. in. spichlerz, kuźnię oraz pralnię, jednak z kompleksu zachował się tylko spichlerz. Powstał on w 1906 r. i jest budynkiem unikatowym, ponieważ jest to jednen z nielicznych tego typu obiektów, który przetrwał w niezmienionym stanie. Budynek ma rozbudowaną, nieoczywistą bryłę. Wyróżniającym się elementem budynku jest pięciokondygnacyjna wieża z zegarem.
Przez wiele lat po wojnie, spichlerz był uzytkowany w ramach PGR - do lat 60. XX w. Opuszczony w 1975 r., popadł w ruinę. W 1977 r. spichlerz i park wpisane zostały do rejestru zabytków. W 2004 r. spichlerz został przejęty przez gminę Drawsko Pomorskie i zabezpieczony przed dalszą dewastacją. Wzmocniono ściany i wymieniono dach, pokrywając go dachówką. W najbliższych latach planuje się odrestaurować budynek, z przeznaczeniem go na przestrzeń kulturalno-społeczną.
Domy dla robotników
W 1909 i 1911 roku Walter Gropius otrzymuje kolejne zamówienia na domy dla robotników w Jankowie. Projekt zakładał wzniesienie przy drodze wiodącej z Drawska do dworu w Jankowie czterech piętrowych symetrycznych domów oraz jednego przy drodze w północnej częsci wsi. W praktyce zrealizowano tylko dwa z nich. Domy te zachowały się do dziś. Na przestrzeni lat, uległy one jednak wielu zmianom. Dziś zamieszkałe przez prywatnych właścicieli - zdjęcia poniżej.

In the village of Jankowo, near Drawsko Pomorskie, you can see the legacy of Walter Gropius - the eminent architect and founder of the Bauhaus. There are several buildings in and around Jankowo designed by Gropius, who started his design adventure here and later became one of the most eminent architects, a pioneer of modernism, creator of the Bauhaus - the world's first art academy training in industrial design and a trend in architecture.
Granary in Jankowice. Gropius designed several buildings for the local manor in Jankowo, including a granary, a smithy and a laundry, but only the granary remains of the complex. It was built in 1906 and is a unique building, as it is one of the few of its kind to have survived unaltered. The building has an elaborate, unobtrusive form. The prominent feature of the building is the five-storey tower with a clock.
For many years after the war, the granary was used as part of the state farm until the 1960s. Abandoned in 1975, it fell into disrepair. In 1977, the granary and park were entered in the register of historical monuments. In 2004 the granary was taken over by the Drawsko Pomorskie municipality and protected from further devastation. The walls were strengthened and the roof was replaced, covering it with tiles. There are plans to restore the building in the coming years, with a view to using it as a cultural and social space.
Houses for workers In 1909 and 1911 Walter Gropius received further commissions for houses for workers in Jankov. The project envisaged the erection of four single-storey symmetrical houses by the road leading from Drawsko to the manor house in Jankov, and one by the road in the northern part of the village. In practice, only two of these were realised. These houses have been preserved to this day. Over the years, however, they have undergone many changes. Today they are inhabited by private owners
