This cache is NOT at the posted coordinates, the posted coordinates are at a unique tree and marker at the back of the Newton House property.
When parcels of land were surveyed in the 1800’s instead of the benchmarks we are familiar with, they used trees and their description to mark locations. This Burr Oak Tree, which was 9” in diameter in 1828 was used as a corner marker for Sections 5, 6, 7, and 8 in Calvin Township. This 200 year old tree was blown down April 12, 2001, cut and a portion saved and moved to this location. It was the last witness tree in Cass and Berrien Counties. Take time to marvel at the size it was in 2001.
The Bonus cache lies in the wooded area behind the fence. Please walk around the end of the fence to get to the final location. You will find an Ammo Can hidden using the coordinates given in the Adventure Lab Newton House stop.
